Isn’t it true that come winters and somehow the cold, wet weather wreaks havoc with your perfect hair game?

Cold air outdoors and the damaging heaters indoor, it all leads to over dryness, hair fall and can even causes split ends.

Here are 6 easy tips to keep your hair strong and healthy this winter-

1. Use a hydrating shampoo

Get smarter with your shampoo in winters.

A regular shampoo would not only clean the dirt and grime from your hair, it will also strip your hair of all the oils that keep it soft and healthy.

With the cold wet weather, it will only lead to dry, flakey scalp making it itchy and even snuffing the hair growth.

Instead use a good hydrating shampoo like

that will help keep the hair smooth and moisturized.

If you have an oily scalp, you can use a balancing shampoo particularly for oily scalp and dry ends, like-

Kerastase balancing shampoo

2. Avoid going out with wet hair

Like everything, even the hair shaft tends to expand in cold weather and especially more if its wet.

This makes the hair weaker and more prone to breakage and fall.

So try taking showers at night to have completely dry hair by mornings and if you take morning showers, blow-dry your hair before leaving home in the morning before rushing into the cold.

3. Avoid very hot water in shower

It might get tempting to get under a hot water shower but try and avoid it because it can really be damaging for your hair.

Hot water not only over dries the hair but can also cause hair follicles to weaken eventually leading to breakage and hair fall.

To protect your hair, use warm water instead of hot water for the wash and then rinse off with cold water to prevent hair loss and seal in the moisture.

4. Keep your scalp well moisturized.

Cold weather leaves the scalp dry and itchy. Its important to give your scalp a moisture boost in order to replenish back oil and moisture to avoid dryness and hair loss.

Even if you dont have the time and luxury of long oil massages, just oil your scalp with coconut or olive oil 20 mintues before the wash.

It will give your scalp the required moisture and keep the scalp supple.

5. Get your hair regularly trimmed

The cold and dry air of winters can leave the hair ends rough and brittle increasing the risk of damage.

Therefore its important to get regular trims to keep the hair healthy and avoid split ends.

6. Use a deep conditioning mask once a week.

A deep moisturizing hair mask can make a world of a difference especially in cold weather.

They provide the needed moisture in the winter months and specially help nourish the dry damaged ends of the hair strands.

To fix a quick hair mask at home, mix together

Avocado powder– 6 tablespoons

Yogurt-4 tablespoons

Honey– 1 tablespoon

Mix the ingredients into a paste and apply on damp hair for about 30 minutes before the hair wash.

You can even use a premade hair mask like –

Forest essentials intensive hair repair mask

Winter can seriously be harsher on the hair than the warmer months making it more prone to dryness and damage.

Just follow these easy steps and you can have healthy glossy hair all through the winters.
